Epplets

News

12 Jan 2000: My homepage moves
You will by now have noticed that I have moved by homepage to uklinux.net. This means that I am now supporting a great project, and I also now have the ability to incorporate PHP scripts into these pages. This leaves open the possibility of a more interactive Epplets page in the future.

What are Epplets?

Epplets are programs designed to work with the Enlightenment Window Manager Versions 0.16 and above. Generally they are quite small and provide a quick way for a user to perform simple tasks, or view information. To use Epplets you also need to install epplet-base-xx.xx.tar.gz (where xx.xx is the version - 0.4 is current at the time of writing). Many of the Epplets described here are also included in epplet-base.
Enlightenment's most notable feature is that it is "themeable", this means that its look and feel may be changed easily. Epplets will automatically change to suit the current Enlightenment theme. Another advantage of Epplets is that they are extremely easy to write as a simple API has been provided with epplet-base, all you need is a knowledge of C programming.
I have collected numerous Epplets and split them into several sections from where you can view a screenshot, read a quick review of the Epplet, and download it (unless it is included in epplet-base which you can download above).
Please note that an Epplet may not be added if it is very similar to another Epplet already on this page and doesn't offer any new features (take note of this if you are thinking of writing yet another Cpu monitor!). I also can't review Epplets which don't compile or work reasonably easily.
Also, if you know of an Epplet not on this page, that you think I should review please read the submission guidelines and then email it, or a URL for it, to me.

This page is hosted by uklinux.net, they are a Linux-friendly free-ISP who support the Free Software community, I highly recommend them.
